Her research interests focus on financialization, contentious responses to the European economic crisis, the politics of austerity and sovereign debt, and European (dis)integration. Her dissertation project examines how the 2008 financial collapse and Great Recession provoked uprisings that seek democratic change, with particular attention to how ordinary people attempt to renegotiate and redefine democratic practice for the 21st century. She has conducted extensive field research in Iceland and Scotland.
